Ideation Station’s digital tool is a winner on Sport Industry Awards feed
February 15, 2016
As 1,200 key figures and celebrities from the world of sport attended the glamorous 2016 Discovery Sport Industry Awards in Sandton on 11 February, many more followers were glued to the Twitter feed, anticipating the winners of each category. Making use of Ideation Station’s novel product, Playing Surface, the Sport Industry Group was able to satiate this real-time need.
“We posted 38 images to Twitter during the course of the evening using Playing Surface,” says Sport Industry Group, Communications Manager, Claire Earley. “It’s a great tool that allows you to communicate instantly with your followers during a live event. Our images were branded accurately and all used the same look-and-feel that we had created for the special evening.”
“The challenge of the awards evening was to keep social media updated with what was going on at a live event,” says Ideation Station’s Chief Ideas Officer, Goodwill Moyo.
“We provided the system and five templates – Shortlist, Winners, Generic, Red Carpet and Judges – that could be tweaked and then tweeted live during the event as the winners were announced. The product is easy to use, allows multiple users to post unlimited posts, and gives a level of immediacy that is not purely text-based.
“The image keeps brand consistency making the sponsors happy, and ensures a smooth ‘studio-feel’ to all generated images. It’s a real-time marketing tool that effectively engages with your audience,” says Moyo.
The digital platform is used by many of the big names in the sporting and corporate world, brands like Cricket SA, Vodacom, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival, Telkom Knockout, as well as some top international sporting outfits to name a few.
“We were very happy with the product’s performance and ease of use on the night,” concludes Earley. “Our posts received very positive feedback from our followers.”
